In 2011, Niels van Eijk & Miriam van der Lubbe traveled to Guatemala for the development of the first collection of Imperfect Design. Large differences in culture and practice among the Dutch designers and glassmakers in Guatemala were overcome during the intensive cooperation. Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe chose to take the local craft techniques and materials as a starting point for the design. That resulted in a sheer range of products from recycled glass.
The success of this special collaboration lead to an expansion of the collection with vases, carafes and glasses. Recently a collection of candlesticks was launched, again made by Guatemalan glassblowers.
