I’ve been following the work of Dutch Textile designer Mae Engelgeer for some time now. She is known for her distinctive textile collections, often using pastels and the color bright orange. Mae Engelgeer’s design is one-of-a-kind. Development and production of her fabrics is often in collaboration with the Textile Museum in Tilburg.
Mae has studied textile design at AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute) and has a Master’s degree from the Sandberg Institute, where she got interested in the field of art and design. Through her collections, she shows her vision of textile design; a setting built by color, lines, patterns and surface division is her signature. Her love for color and material is reflected in each design.
Concept Store Friday Next (always worth a visit) is showing an exhibition of her work, opening December 12. In the exhibition Mae will also present her latest collection MOD, consisting of a round carpet and woven blanket. You can visit the exhibition from December 12 until January 30 at Friday Next from 09.00 to 18.00. Admission is free.
