Product and interior designers Siebring & Zoetmulder and textile and graphic design LileSadi designed a cabinet that is not only functional. The user can also create a stunning still life with it by putting their own stuff on the shelves, but also by stabbing different disks into the special grooves. Both studios continually seek collaborations with other brands and designers and create custom designs for individual projects.
“We combine the best of both worlds. Creating a design with a multi-disciplinary background, we believe through collaborating and focusing on our individual skill sets we can create better and more in-depth design”. Their first collaborative product, the ‘Daily Gems’ cabinet is not only a functional organiser, but also a playground for aesthetic compositions of materials, structures and shapes.
The cabinet of the Rotterdam design firms Siebring & Zoetmulder and LileSadi consists of two boxes that are inserted together in a smart way. This creates new spaces and opportunities to give your own objects more value in a special way. The cabinet can be hung on the wall in four different ways, horizontally or vertically.
The cabinet has ongoing engraved lines. For this purpose, materials such as a mirror pattern, circles of handmade porcelain and metal figures are developed. These can be placed in the grooves by the user. A delicate universe with a minimalistic touch. The graphic patterns and soft colours of the collection of LileSadi harmonise with the raw and light aspect of the proportions and materialisation of Siebring & Zoetmulder. Also this cabinet can be decorated by the user with personal objects that each have their own story.
In combination with the materials and objects of the user, an interaction and a personal work of art arises. Suddenly, daily artefacts become part of what looks like a classical Dutch still life painting, the concept that gives roots to the name ‘Daily Gems’. The patterns and compositions are inspired by the Rotterdam architecture and urbanism.
Dutch design studios Lilesadi and Siebring & Zoetmulder presented their collection at OBJECT Rotterdam. If you are interested, you can buy the cabinet via studio Lilesadi. Also check their website for various other products, we love their style!
