A few months ago I visited the beautiful city of Rotterdam to see a friend and visit some concept stores. In this blog I would like to share the ones I liked best, starting with Groos conceptstore. This is a special one with a unique style and original use of colour. (colours by beautiful sustainable Rotterdam brand fairf by the way!) Groos was founded in 2013 and first set up at the Schiekade, recently they moved to Het Industriegebouw. Groos sets out to fill a gap between designer and consumer and to create a space where a selection of great products could be displayed and bought. They want to showcase the multidisciplinary talent which exists within this evolving city. Groos only sells products made by people who are currently living in Rotterdam. This store is definitely worth a visit!
Next store on my list was of course Hutspot Rotterdam. I visited some other Hutspot stores before but this one was new for me. I found a totally different atmosphere than in the stores I visited before. The space is industrial and in the interior a lot of white is used combined with beautiful modern green and brique colours.. Love it! Simple and clever solutions to display the products. And of course a good collection of brands in clothing, interior, stationary and my favourite department, books 🙂 . I had high expectations but certainly was not dissapointed!
Last but not least I visited COLLECTIVE. by Swan. They started in July 2017 in Rotterdam in the popular Witte de Withstraat. The store is a designers and buyers collective that found its base in the well known Swan market. Around 20 people work together in filling the store, and styling and selling the products. The designers are also the sellers, quite a unique approach! The collection is a mix of vintage items and locally designed stuff. Visiting the store feels a little like browsing a flea market…I love it! COLLECTIVE. by Swan also has a store in the Hague, check their website for addresses & information.
